Welcome to the first edition of Whatley-tics, a weekly blog dedicated to analyzing and breaking down news regarding politics and goverment. I created this blog for the sole purpose of my viewers. You might say that this is too much for a teenager. However, you must remeber that I'm not your average teenager. If you have any comments, concerns, or ideas for my website, please post them on the Comments page. Thank you! So with that said here we go, the first installation of Whatley-tics...
I sat down and watched the 1st of 3 Presidential Debates between
Senator McCain and Senator Obama on CNN. The thing lasted 90 minutres
and the majority of that was over domestic issues, like the failing
economy, while the rest was foreign affairs. Now I am going to be
honest, although my family is made up of Dems (Democratics), Obama did
an awesome job with the domestic policy questions. By attacking McCain's "spending freeze" idea, a proposition in which all government spending would cease until a budget could be established, by saying that "a spending freeze is like using a hatchet instead of a scapule..." However, although I
thought McCain won foreign affairs
part of the debate with his experience in prior war and by counterattacking Obama by saying he had no clear plan on how to deal with Iraq. After CNN analyzed the debate, they composed three
polls amongst their analyists. The polls consisted of who won the
foreign affairs, who won on domestic policy, and the debate overall.
Obama won each poll by more than a margin of 5%. Unless CNN is biased,
this is great for Obama since he already has the lead in most polls to
win the election. However, McCain is a different story. Since he had
already been scrutinized by Dems and some Reps (Republicans) by
suspending his campaign to assist President Bush in the $700 billion
bailout plan, he really needed to step up in this debate and he failed
to deliver. He has another chance to prove himself in the next debate
which is October 7th.
Both of their VPs (Vice Presidents), Governor
Palin (McCain) and Senator Biden (Obama) have their first and only
debate on October 2nd. I will also have be watching this as well seeing
that Palin has been dodging the media over the past weeks. November 4th
will be here before we know it people, rememeber to go out there and
vote.
That concludes the first edtion of Whatley-tics. Remember, you can give your two cents about my website and blogs on the comments page or by e-mailing me at david12592@yahoo.com. Your thoughts and ideas and are greatly appreciated. That's it from me and as always...
The past two weeks for me have been rocky to say the least. For starters, I announced my bid for Sophomore King on Monday. My opponent turned out to be someone in my homeroom, who knew...? I obviously didn't because I'm usually in the Media Center doing or assisting with the Morning Announcements. I did not campaign because I thought that it would be a waste of resources. My opponent might of also seen it as a waste of time seeing that he only has 3 ads posted throughout the school and a couple of sub-par necklaces w/ his picture that he gave out to 2 people. I thought that most of the sophomore class knows who I am, seeing that I did the fashion show last year and the fact that everyone remembered my name and face due to my resemblance to Lil' JJ. However, I did make some ads and posted one in a class. I mainly did Internet campaigning. Basically, I got a couple of my friends and associates to get the word out me running through the school and on-line through MySpace. Tomorrow, however, will show if my friends and I worked when the coronation ceremony takes place @ 3PM. That was basically the highlight of the week. Nothing didn't really happen in class. Our school had its first TSA meeting where we mainly trying to recruit new members. Due to scheduling problems with FBLA, only a couple people showed up to the meeting. However, several people came after the meeting ajourned for info on our first trip. Although this may sound stupid, it really isn't. Our first trip, which is to the Perry, GA Fair @ the GA Natl. Fairgrounds, costs twenty dollars. That $20 pays for the trip but for your TSA dues as well. So if we get 30, 35 people to go on the field trip, we also get 30, 35 members. See how that plays into our hands. Let's see, what else... I think that just about sums it up for this week. Wait, yeah there's more. In Spanish class on Friday, my teacher organized this game, in which the class got into, 4 groups of 5 and everyone had to congugate one Spanish word. The game resulted in three groups, including mine, getting into a tie with the other group not even scoring. The tie will be broken on Monday, this is America, games don't end in ties like they do in Japan. I also purshased my first suit for the coronation on today. I expected this to be a long and daunting task, however, my gay tailor (no offense to homosexuals) was some how able to look at me and analyze me. I mean, the man looked at me, without using any measuring tape or anything, walked down an isle, and picked out the suit for me. THE SUIT FITTED PEFECTLY AND LOOKED AWESOME!!! You'll all see tomorrow at the coronation. How in the world did he do that...? That's it for this week. Be sure to check out my other blog, "Whatley-tics" where I analyze the road to November 4th. As always...
What's up FreeWebs...? Another week down and now its time for my weekly report. I started off this week with a surprise from my mom by getting a dog. A friend of mine had actually mentioned it to me and I told my mom but I didn't think that she was serious about it. My mom, along with my brother and I, went to my friends house and after some long goodbyes took the dog home. The dog is a golden retriever and the age isn't known quite yet but once we take Rocky (the name we gave him, yeah its a boy) to the vet well get some more in depth info. Moving on to the school week, it was Rocky (LOL...) to say the least. To start things off, my World Lit(erature) teacher assigned us a paper in which our audience was a group of young teens that were about to start working and we had to advise them on what they should do with their money. I know I got an awesome grade on it because I'm... well... me LOL. I dodged a bullet in my Algebra II class as the test my teacher mentioned was on Friday instead of Monday. After giving a huge sigh of relief, I went on about my work and then went to my next class, Chemistry I. Now my Chemistry teacher might not be the nicest and balanced of them all, but she knows her stuff and lets you know how things are to ran in her class... every chance she gets. She assigned a project in which we had to present a section in our chapter to the class which was to be due tomorrow. Had not my friend AJ called me later on that night, I would have missed out on a east 100. After Chem, I went to my favorite class: Digital Media Technology (DMT for short). I really don't do anything in this class other than work on CAD (Computer Aided Design) sheets and work on stuff for TSA (the teacher is the advisor for the club). I also eat lunch during this period (4th) which is ALWAYS either pizza, chicken, or a wrap. I can't believe I pay a $1.45 for this crap, but I usually don't eat everyday so it doesn't bother me much. After lunch I go back to DMT until 1:05 PM when I leave to go see a rather interesting teacher who teaches U.S. History. In U.S. History, we have a schedule that goes as follows Day 1: Write vocabulary/pick up weekly packet/assign chapter/extra credit is posted. Day 2: Vocabulary test. Day 3: Work on packet in class. Day 4: Chapter test/ if not told otherwise, packet is due./ Turn in extra credit. Day 5: Current Event (optional, additional points). And that's basically it for U.S. History. The teacher has a ton of energy and keeps me awake in enough so that I can make it through my next class which is EXTREMELY easy, Spanish II. Spanish II is by far, similiar to Spanish I. Maybe its because its still early in the year and the teachers have to give a recap on Spanish I. Hopefeully, this is the case because your boy is doing muy fantastico en clas de Espanol. But this class is fun though, I enjoy outsmarting the other kids LOL... The rest of week had it bumps as well. I took like 6 tests this week and only passed 4. I failed my periodic elements test and I failed my Algebra II test (but only because I didn't have a calculator). In addition to this wackiness, I had to dress up on Thursday and Friday to recruit people to join TSA since I'm an officer (Secretary). But I had fun this week and hope that next week is a bit more normal. As always, this has been D-Wh@t and goodbye for now. Love, peace, and hair grease. Peeps.
Ever had one of those weeks, when everything seems to be just passing you by...? It feels as if you have no grip over your own life. This week was definitely one, but it didn't breeze by without its ups and downs. On Thursday (I think), Mr. Balogun (my Algebra II Honors teacher) finally gave his quiz for this week and I went into it with a 94 class average. Thinking that I would fail, I took the test and realized that it was simple as pie. I also took Mr. Groves' (United States History Honors) test and passed it easily. I even managed to do the morning and afternoon announcements. It has been a very daunting week and I just couldn't wait for it to be over. However, I couldn't relax for long because on Friday, I had to prepare for my TSA (Technology Students Association) field trip which was the 2008 CORE (Chapter Officer Retreat for Excellence). Sorry for all of the acronyms. The purpose of the field trip was to train chapter officers (I'm the sergeant-at-arms) to be more effective officers to their respective chapters. The field trip also offered a chance for you to take a test (called the Statesman Test) and if you pass it, you qualify to run for state office next year. I passed the test and I plan on running for State Secretary next year. Participants even take part in activities such as the obstacle course, Rope Course, basketball, football, baseball, and various other activites. Overall, the trip was fun and educational, and I had a great time. Its good to be back home.
I post this blog in remembrance of all those who died in during the tragic events of 9.11.01. I post this blog in remebrance of those who dedicated their lives and time to helping survivors, recovering those who were lost during the 9/11 events, and to anyone that did anything that helped anyone in any shape, form, or fashion. My prayers are with those who have lost family members and loved ones as a result.
It's been how long since I've been on here... A month...!!! WOW....! Well I'm sorry my people that I've been gone so long. I've been very very VERY busy. Since my absence, I've been managing school, homework, and 3 other clubs. Yeah this year, I joined FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), TSA (Technology Students Association), and the Morning Announcement Crew. I also make highlight clips for my school's football games. So yeah my hands have been tied. Last week, I went on a trip to Jekyll Isle, Georgia. The trip was awesome. My hotel room was right next to the beach. I'll upload some pics later on this week. So that's what I've basically been up to for the last couple of weeks. Just a heads up, September 12 - 14, I'll be gone for a TSA field trip so my post will be delayed for that week. Well that's it for me, I'll talk either next Sunday evening or Monday evening. Good night!
Oh man, talk about a strange week. This past Thursday, Clayton County Public Schools began school. Seeing that I've spent the summer staying up to 3, 4, and 5 AM in the morning, I set my the three alarms on my cellphone as well as, a clock and my watch for. I went to sleep that Wednesday night in confidence that I would not wake up on the first day of my sophomore year late. My plan backfired against me, however. The beeping from my watch was so agitating that once I found it I pressed the stop button about 10 times just to make sure it would stay off. This was in addition to my alarm clock and my cellphone. By the way this was at 6:30 in the morning. Afterwards, I got myself ready for school and headed out for another year at NCHS. I found my first day of NCHS quite interesting as I was not nervous in the least. I found my homeroom and classes with little difficulty. My teachers were straight-forward on how the year was going to be and I actually am looking forward to doing all of the things they intend on doing. I probably feel like this since last year I was a freshman and all the teachers wanted to do was to get you up out of their classes. Today was good as well. I got to all of my classes a bit better and I didn't to use my schedule to find them. This year has a promising start. However, it is one situation I as well as several other CCPS students are looking forward to this year. On September 1, 2008, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (better known as SACS) will decide on the fate of our district's 56,000+ student accreditation. I don't want to go into detail about this so go to our school district's website for more info. So with all this said, this includes my weekly report for the week of August 8, 2008. I'm watching the 2008 Beijing Olympics on NBC right now and I will see you next time on the weekly report. Be sure to tell your friends about my site. Love, peace, and hair grease, D-Wh@t
Welcome to my "Day2Day" blog. This blog will give a daily synopsis of my activities (hence the name). This blog won't be exactly "day to day" as things may happen that prevent me from posting that day, such as me being lazy, too much homework, etc. So please don't leave me comments or send me e-mails, complaining okay. I'm doing this blog so that all of my viewers may keep up with my school activites and changes to the site (if they are not posted to the home page). To protect myself from stalkers, I won't exactly go into detail of everything I do but I'll post enough to keep you informed. So that explains my "Day2Day" blog. Come back everyday for more info and more blog posting.
